Samsung BD-P1
400 High-Definition DVD Player

Samsung was the first company to place a Blu-ray high-definition DVD player on the market, in mid-2006. Early in 2007 it launched the second-generation BD-P1200, with the BD-P1400 released in September 2007. You can read a press release at the company's website.

CNET previewed it:

Right on the heels of the mostly well-reviewed BD-P1200, Samsung is charging ahead by announcing two new Blu-ray players for the fall. The BD-P1400 offers a few important features that enthusiasts have desired in a Samsung player.

First, there's support for 24 frames per second output, which many claim can reduce judder when viewed on a compatible display. We haven't been able to detect a difference with 24 frames per second output so far, but we're holding our final judgment until we've paired players up with more compatible displays.

The BD-P1400 also has internal decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD (we're still waiting for confirmation that this means DTS-HD Master audio), which means that most AV receivers (those equipped with either HDMI or 5.1 analog audio inputs) can be used to amplify the high-resolution soundtracks.

I have not been able to find online any independent, objective reviews of this model. However, CNET offers two reviews from buyers of the unit.

According to one reviewer:

After about 2 weeks use I'm very happy with my 1400. My SD's have never looked better (thanks to the 1400's upconversion), and BR movies are amazing. The firmware update takes some time (I used the burn-a-disc method) & should have been done by Samsung prior to shipment. Great player for the money.

The other wrote:

My family was glued to our seats for the duration of the movie "The Day After Tomorrow" It was so real, “I fell in a trance”, (LOL), and better than the movie theater. The experience still lingers as my wife plans to invite friends over for a treat. I am now collecting more blue-ray movies than ever. My first experience with a Samsung, and I like it thus far.
